MPC Expansions FAQs

• Are your expansions compatible with my MPC?

  Our MPC expansions are built for all modern standalone MPCs, the Akai Force, the MPC Software and most expansions also work with the free MPC Beats app. Many also include a version built specifically for the MPC Sample.

  Please check the 'tech specs' section of each product to confirm the exact hardware and software requirements for each individual expansion.

• How easy is it to install your expansions?

  Very easy - for standalone MPC/Force you can copy the expansion to the 'Expansions' folder on your MPC disk, and for use in the MPC Software simply drag the provided 'XPN' into the software. Detailed instructions can be found in our Expansion Support section.

• Do you update your expansions?

  Yes, we often provide updates to ensure the expansions remain compatible with the latest MPC firmware releases. We also add new features and improvements to existing products - for example we've updated many of our drum kits and multisampled instruments to take advantage of new MPC3 features that allow us to combine velocity switching and round robins.

• Are your kits and instruments all fully set up and ready to play?

  Yes, if you purchase an expansion that contains drum kits or instruments you simply load them from the browser and they are immediately ready to use within your project, no additional set up or config required.

• Do your expansions use a lot of memory?

  No! Unlike many expansion developers, we take the extra time to ensure our expansions are highly optimised, employing techniques such as sustain looping, sample chains and careful sample editing and resource management. This ensures the minimum memory without impacting sound quality.

• Are your expansions royalty free?

  Yes, 100% royalty free. Use them to make your own musical compositions with no additional fees or royalties due. Check out our Licensing / EULA page for more info.

• I own multiple MPCs, can I install your expansions on all of them?

  Yes, once you purchase a license you can install our expansions on any supported MPC that you own personally. For example, any expansion you buy for your MPC One+ can also be used in your MPC Live 3 and the MPC Software.

  Please note that some expansions are not suitable for all MPC models, so do check the 'tech specs' section.

• Can you help me using an expansion I purchased from you?

  Yes, our tech support is second-to-none; just get in touch and we'll be happy to help!

• Do your expansions work with the MPC Software?

  All our expansions work 100% with the MPC Software (and hence are fully compatible with controller mode). Check the 'tech specs' section for each individual expansion to clarify the minimum MPC Software version supported.

• Do I need to have any premium FX plugins installed to use your sample expansions?

  No, our instrument and drum expansions only use 'out of the box' FX plugins, i.e. the ones that are pre-installed in all MPC models.

• Will your expansions work in the free MPC Beats app?

  Most of our expansions work perfectly with MPC Beats, however some more recent expansions now use MPC3 only features and plugins, so please check the 'tech specs' section on the product page of an individual expansion to confirm MPC Beats support.

• Do MPC expansions work in legacy/classic MPCs?

  Expansion format is only compatible with modern standalone MPCs, Akai Force, MPC Software and MPC Beats. Some of our expansions do contain a special 'legacy' folder which contains versions adjusted for older MPCs, these are all listed in our Legacy MPC Samplepacks category.
