Pad Pimps is proud to present ‘The Underground Crates’, bringing a unique and inspiring blend of boom bap, instrumental hip hop and lofi hip hop to your MPC.

The expansion contains over 800 drum and melodic samples organised into 25 hip hop themes and 18 sampled instruments. Each kit consists of perfectly matched drums & percussion combined with vintage-style melodic one shots including bass, jazzy keys, horns and strings, all produced to capture the gritty, warm feel of sampled vinyl cuts.

Each kit is paired with its own matching MIDI sequence featuring loose, boom bap-style drums layered over crusty atmospheric chords, hooks and sub-heavy bass lines. The following demo features all 25 themes recorded directly from the MPC with no additional processing.

All kits are laid out identically, so you can easily mix and match kits and sequences to kick start new creative ideas. And as all melodies and drums are sequenced entirely from one shot samples using 16 LEVELS, you can easily adjust the tempo of all sequences without resorting to warping or time stretching. All sequences are also provided in MIDI pattern format for maximum flexibility.

And if you prefer to roll your own kits, we've fully organised and 'tagged' all 800 drums and melodic samples so you can quickly and easily build custom drum kits from scratch.

In addition to the themes, we’ve also included 18 sampled instruments all recorded with a dusty, vintage flavour with multi-velocity acoustic piano, Rhodes and Wurlitzer, thumping sub basses, acoustic double bass, custom electric pianos, and a mix of acoustic and synth leads. We've also included a collection of vinyl static loops which can be layered over entire sequences or used as individual sample layers to give extra crackly, vinyl vibe.

Update 1.5 - MPC Sample Support: Underground Crates now also features a specially optimised edition for the MPC Sample, featuring the same 25 construction kits and theme sequences. As the MPC Sample does not support keygroups we've added a multisampled instrument to bank B of every kit, pre-mapped to a complimentary scale (the closest you'll currently get to 'pad perform' in an MPC Sample!).

The Underground Crates is fully compatible with all current generation standalone MPCs, with a dedicated standalone installer made for MPC XL, MPC Live (1, 2 & 3), MPC X, MPC X SE, MPC One/ One+, MPC Key 37/ 61 and Akai Force, an an XPN installer for the MPC Software and MPC Beats and a separate installer for the MPC Sample.

We’ve also included a legacy MPC edition of the expansion with all kits and instruments optimised for the MPC1000, MPC2500, MPC500 and JJOS.
