New 1.5 Update: Now with rapid loading sample chains
‘Electric Bass’ is an MPC instrument expansion featuring fully multisampled bass guitars, with over 50 ready-to-load sound patches for the MPC One, MPC X, MPC Live, Akai Force, MPC Software and MPC Beats.
We've carefully recorded and multisampled an exceptional selection of vintage and modern bass guitars including classics such as the Fender Precision (60s & 70s models), Fender Jazz, Gibson EB-03 and Rickenbacker 4001, as well as modern basses like the Schecter Stiletto Studio 5 and the Fodera Monarch 6, with 52 custom patches to give you a huge range of very flexible and realistic-sounding bass guitar tones. The demo below is made from a selection of the patch previews found inside the expansion:
Each patch has been optimised for minimal memory usage with 'round robins' to give a realistic variance in timbre and tone when performing; simply load up a patch and instantly start sequencing your own unique and realistic electric bass guitar riffs using your pads or an attached controller.
The 1.5 update for Electric Bass now uses 'Sample Chains' ensuring virtually instantaneous loading for all instruments, making this the fastest and most comprehensive electric bass collection available for all modern MPCs and Akai Force.
The expansion comes with two separate installers; a dedicated version for standalone use in the MPC X, MPC Live, MPC One / One+, MPC Key and Akai Force and a separate MPC Software Expansion installer for use in the Expansion Browser.
Program previews are included for all patches and everything is tagged for use in the MPC Software/MPC Beats Media Browser. Full installation & usage instructions are given in the included User Guide
Electric Bass is part of the 'MPC instrument Bundle', a collection of fast loading 'standalone-friendly' multisampled acoustic and electric instruments, made for the new generation of MPCs.
Built For Modern MPCs & Force
Electric Bass is compatible with all modern standalone MPCs running MPC2 & MPC3, the MPC Software, MPC Beats and the Akai Force.

FAQs
-
Does this work in standalone MPCs and the Akai Force?
Yes, it's 100% compatible with all modern MPCs such as the MPC X/SE, MPC Live 1,2 & 3, MPC One/One+, MPC Key and Akai Force. We've included a dedicated 'standalone' installer for easy drag-and-drop installation to your standalone MPC disk (plus an XPN file for optional MPC Software installation).
-
Does this work with the MPC-Software & MPC Beats?
Yes! In addition to the 'standalone MPC' installer we also provide a dedicated expansion installer for the MPC Software and MPC Beats; just drag and drop directly into the software. Full installation instructions are included with the expansion.
-
What are the sizes of the sound patches?
Patches range in size from 40MB to 60MB.
-
What is a round robin?
To mimic the subtle changes in timbre you can hear each time you play a note on an acoustic instrument, we record multiple 'takes' for each note and set up the MPC program to play back one of these samples randomly each time you play that particular note. This is referred to as a 'round robin'.
-
Are the sounds sampled to full natural decay?
Yes, every sound is provided with its natural fade out intact.
-
Are the patches easy to edit?
Yes, they use standard keygroup programs so you can easily edit effects and programs parameters such as LFO, filter, envelopes etc.
-
Can I play these instruments with a MIDI control keyboard?
Yes, just hook up your keyboard to your MPC (via USB, MIDI cable etc) and you can immediately play the instruments with the keyboard. Set up instructions are provided in the User Guide.
-
I can’t play keyboard, can I still use these instruments?
Yes! You can play the instruments directly with your pads and they also fully support PAD PERFORM mode which maps pre-built chords and scales across your pads.
-
Do you have a version for legacy MPCs?
No at the moment, but if you'd be interested in a legacy edition of this or any other MPC Software Expansion pack, please let us know. If enough customers are interested we would definitely look into making it.
