Vintage Synth Odyssey features eight expansions in our best selling multisampled analog synth series, featuring over 800 multisampled keygroup instruments built from 9GB of samples, for all modern MPCs and the Akai Force!
Each expansion features an eclectic collection of instruments originally sampled from classic analog synths and then fused with the MPC's own powerful FX, filters, LFO and envelopes to create a stunning assembly of fast loading and expressive MPC instruments packed with analog fatness and warmth.
This bundle contains the following expansions, for a total of 830 instruments built from over 18,000 samples:
- MPC CS80 - featuring one of the most iconic synths of all time, the Yamaha CS80.
- MPC Model D - built using the godfather of all analog synths, the timeless Minimoog Model D.
- OB-MPC - featuring the rich tones of the the Oberheim OB-Xa.
- MPC-Prophet - the deep analog sounds of the legendary Prophet 5 synth.
- MPC2600 - instruments built from the sounds of the iconic ARP 2600.
- MPC-MS20 - the MPC fused with the fat analog synth sounds of the Korg MS20.
- MPC-J60 - multisampled from the classic Juno-60.
- MPC-DX7 - multisampled from the mighty 80s FM synth, the Yamaha DX7.
Each instrument is already fully set up and ready to play; simply load your chosen patch and it will be mapped across your pads or keys automatically. All instruments are fully compatible with pad perform mode and the arpeggiator, with an array of expressive controls baked in including mod-wheel/touchstrip controllable LFO, pitch bend, portamento and velocity sensitive filters.
We also spent significant time optimising the instruments to ensure fast loading and minimum CPU usage, with ‘sustain looped’ samples ensuring you can easily load dozens of instruments into any project, even in standalone mode.
All patches are grouped and organised by instrument type (pads, lead, bass etc), with baked-in browser previews so you can audition the sound of each patch before loading along with file name ‘tagging’ for quick and speedy browser searching. For detailed installation instructions and usage tips, check out the user guide.

Customer Reviews
FAQs
-
Does this expansion support the arpeggiator and pad perform mode?
Yes, all our instruments are built using keygroup programs so they fully support features such as pad perform snd the arpeggiator in all modern MPCs and the Akai Force.
-
Can I play the instruments with a MIDI control keyboard?
Yes, no problem. You can use a keyboard or just use the pads (or both).
-
Is this easy to install on the MPC X/Live/One/Force?
Yes, very easy, we provide a 'standalone' version of the expansion which you simply drag and drop to your MPC/Force disk. Full installation instructions are included in the expansion download.
-
Do the instruments take up much memory?
No! We spend a lot of time optimising our programs to use the smallest memory possible, including the use of sustain looping. Most programs are in the region of a few MB each so will have little impact on your MPC's memory and you'll be able to quickly load dozens of instruments into any project.
-
How do I preview the different instruments before loading?
Go to the browser and make sure 'AUDITION > AUTO' is set. Now when you tap on an instrument in the browser the MPC will play a short audio demo for that instrument.
-
How are the instruments organised in the browser?
We 'tag' all instruments and samples using Akai's recommended tagging system. In standalone browsers you can use the 'Search' option to view all instruments that match a specific tag or keyword (e.g. 'keys, 'lead', bass' etc). In the MPC Software instruments are automatically grouped/categorised by their tag. You can find out more about using the instruments in the included User Guide.
-
Are these instruments synthesised or acoustic?
All the instruments in this collection are synthesised, using multisamples recorded from our collection of synths combined with subtractive synthesis techniques (utilising the MPC's own filters, LFO, envelopes and FX). If you are specifically looking for a collection of multisampled acoustic instruments, check out the MPC Instrument Collection.
-
Is this a single expansion or multiple individual expansions?
This bundle consists of 8 individual expansions; after purchase the 6 download links will be available in your File Bank for download at any time, 24/7.
