Legacy MPC Sample Packs FAQs

• What are 'legacy' MPCs?

  These are the classic hardware MPCs that were released before Akai developed the new generation of MPCs that we use today. These are the MPC1000, MPC2500, MPC500, MPC5000, MPC4000, MPC2000/XL and MPC3000/60.

• What is a 'sample pack'?

  A samplepack is the term we use to describe a collection of samples, kits and instruments that were built for older legacy MPCs (as opposed to the expansion format used for modern MPCs).

• How do I install a samplepack into a legacy MPC?

  You'll need to copy the samplepack folder to your legacy MPC disk. More information can be found on our Legacy Samplepack installation guide.

• Can I use legacy samplepacks in a modern MPC?

  Yes, the samples and old style programs should load into a modern MPC, but there will be no FX, filters, envelopes and only basic pad configuration. If you have a modern MPC you should use modern MPC expansions as these will support the current FX plugins, filters, modulators, Q-LINK macros and other advanced features.

• Can I purchase samplepacks on a disk?

  No, we only provide digital downloads. You'll need to download the samplepacks to a computer and then transfer to your MPC disk (e.g. via USB cable on MPCs such as the MPC1000/2500, or via a suitable card reader for older MPCs).

• Do your legacy samplepacks work with JJOS?

  Yes, if the sample pack is stated as working with the MPC1000/2500 then it will also work with JJOS. Please check the 'tech specs' section on the product page for more details.
