The expansion features all 60 ready-to-play acoustic kits from our legendary 'Dirty Drummer' series featuring kicks, snares, open/closed hats, toms, cymbals, shakers, clap, ghost hits and rolls, all mapped with the same intuitive finger drumming layout. Each drum is sampled with multiple 'round robins' to give natural timbre variation for that real drummer sound.

Simply load up a patch and start drumming on your pads, everything is set up for you 'out-of-the-box'. Need some inspiration? Load up some of the included MIDI drum grooves from the pool of drum patterns provided. All the kits use the same core layout so you can easily experiment with different mixes of kits and patterns until you find the perfect combo. All kits and patterns come with their own browser previews so you can listen to the kits and MIDI grooves from within the browser first, no need to load anything into your project until you are ready to.
New Update 2.1: Dirty Drummer now contains a separate edition made specifically for the new Akai MPC Sample! This version contains 60 MPC Sample projects, each with its own unique Dirty Drummer kit mapped to pad bank A with an accompanying beat sequence.
And we've also taken advantage of the MPC Sample's hidden features and implemented 4 layer 'round robins on all kits! Just load up a complete project or load an individual kit to an existing project. You can also build your own native single layer kits using the supplied one shot library!
The download contains a dedicated installer for standalone MPCs & the Force, an MPC Sample installer, plus a separate ‘drag and drop’ XPN installer for the MPC Software and MPC Beats. Full step-by-step installation instructions are provided in the included User Guide .

Dirty Drummer is compatible with any modern MPC running MPC 2.13 (or greater, including MPC3) - this means it is 100% compatible with any of the following:
- MPC XL, MPC X / SE, MPC Live (1, 2 & 3), MPC One/One+, MPC Key 61/37
- Akai MPC Sample
- Akai Force (firmware 3.1 or greater)
- MPC Software
- MPC Beats App
- Any controller mapped to MPC Beats or the MPC Software
- Legacy MPCs: We've also included legacy versions of the 9 'raw' multisampled drum kits, including all MIDI drum grooves - suitable for MPC1000, MPC2500, MPC500, MPC4000, MPC2000, MPC2000XL, MPC3000, JJOS.

Does Dirty Drummer work with the Akai MPC Sample?
Yes! The expansion now features multiple versions of the kits built for different generations of MPCs including the MPC Sample. One purchase gets you all the different versions in one download. The MPC Sample edition contains 60 projects, each containing a kit and matching drum groove sequence. All kits are configured as proper 'cycle kits' with round robins, taking advantage of hidden MPC Sample features.

Are these kits ready to play?
Yes! All the kits have been fully pre-configured with all drums pre-mapped in a finger-drumming friendly way, with pad colours added for easy drum identification. Each kit also has all FX, filters, program parameters and mixing set up for you. Just audition the kit previews in the browser, load your chosen kit and start playing. And if you need inspiration, try loading some of the included MIDI drum patterns which will give you a set of drum grooves to work with.

What are MIDI drum patterns?
These are short MIDI 'clips' that can be loaded into tracks in your sequences. When matched with an MPC drum kit (such as Dirty Drummer, MCPC Drummer etc) it will play back a break using the sounds from the kit. As the break uses sequenced MIDI events it's fully editable - i.e. change the tempo, overdub extra drums, edit existing drums, with no degradation in sound quality. MIDI drum patterns allow you to rapidly build drum breaks and drum performances in your MPC. They also have the advantage of being compatible with your other kits so you can swap kit sounds in real time until you find the exact drum sound you need. MIDI patterns have their own embedded browser preview so you can audition the groove before loading.

What are 'cycle kits' and 'Round Robins'?
Even if we hit an acoustic drum several times times in the exact same spot and with the exact same velocity, each hit will still sound very slightly different. Capturing these subtle differences in acoustic timbre adds even more realism to a multisampled drum kit. A 'round robin' refers an MPC pad that is configured to play back a different sample each time the pad is hit. These round robins are independent of velocity; instead a sample is selected from a pre-defined 'pool' of samples, either randomly or it can cycle through each one in turn (hence 'cycle kit). Each pad can hold up to 4 round robin samples.

Is my MPC model supported?
Dirty Drummer works in all MPCs - and we've made sure of that by building the kit from the ground up in each model! Each version uses the functionality available specifically in the target MPC model, with the really old MPC models also seeing further optimisations to account for their more limited system memory. 24 bit samples are provided for all MPCs that support them, otherwise samples are 16 bit.

Is this kit only for finger drumming?
No, it can also be used for real time sequencer recording or by programming events in the GRID, just like you would with any MPC drum kit. It's also fully compatible with all our MIDI drum pattern expansions.
