Rusty Drums 3 is an acoustic drum kit expansion featuring the multisampled recordings of an old & rusty, hand-made drum kit from 1980s Eastern Europe. The kit has a very ‘live’, roomy sound, with plenty of grit and character.
The MPC 3 kits are built with up to 8 velocity layers per pad, with each layer also containing up to 4 round robins to capture the subtle dynamics and natural tonal variations of the original acoustic kit. The new 3.6 edition now also features crossfaded velocity layers for seamless velocity layer transitions.
This MPC3.6 edition also includes a kit built specifically for MPCe pads, with each pad featuring multiple articulations split across different zones, allowing us to fit 27 different drum articulations into just 12 pads while still retaining multiple velocity layers and round robins.
For example, hi hat pads are split between open and closed hats, crash cymbals are split with a choke and the main snare pad features a 'centre snare' in the middle which blends into a rimshot on the outer edge. For full details on the MPCe configuration, check out the User Guide.
All MPC3 kits also include 16 pre-mapped Q-LINKS to give you further sound shaping possibilities, with control over snare bleed, drum dampening, punch, lofi grit, EQ and compression.
Rusty Drums 3 is compatible with any MPC or Force running MPC 3.6. The additional MPCe kit requires a 'gen 2' MPC such as the MPC Live 3. The previous edition for MPC 2.15+ is also included.

How does the MPCe Kit work?
If your MPC has 'MPCe' pads then it's possible to split the pads into multiple 'zones'. This allows us to add multiple articulations to a single pad which not only makes for efficient finger drumming but also allows us to create even more realistic emulations of the original drums. For example, instead of two separate ride cymbal pads (bell and 'bow'), we can now place the 'bell' articulation in the centre of a pad and the bow articulation around the edge of the same pad, mimicking the way a real ride cymbal responds to being hit in different positions. We can do the same for a snare (centre articulation blending into a rim shot).

What are Q-Link macros?
Q-link macros let you tweak some of the kit's sound design parameters in real time, just by turning your Q-Link knobs. You can change 16 unique parameters including FX settings, lofi noise, EQ, compression, kit tuning and ambience.

Does this work in standalone MPCs and the Akai Force?
Yes, it's 100% compatible with all modern MPCs such as the MPC X/SE, MPC Live 1,2 & 3, MPC One/One+, MPC Key and Akai Force. We've included a dedicated 'standalone' installer for easy drag-and-drop installation to your standalone MPC disk (plus an XPN file for optional MPC Software installation).

Is this kit only for finger drumming?
No, it can also be used for real time sequencer recording or by programming events in the GRID, just like you would with any MPC drum kit. It's also fully compatible with all our MIDI drum pattern expansions.
